We are on mission to be a light in our city.

Illuminate’s mission from the start has been to be a church that goes beyond our walls to serve people that desperately need to hear the Gospel and see it in action.

Between October 20 – November 19 there are a variety of opportunities to serve. Whether you feel called to serve the homeless, the working poor, the orphan, the addict, the exploited, the prisoner, or the hungry, there is a place for you. Join us as we light up our city with the love of Jesus.

Be the light!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we do a Serve Month event?

Local Outreach always has something going on year-round, but we want to come together as a church from October 20-November 19 to make a tangible and visible difference in our city. We would love for people to step out beyond the walls of our church to be a bright light for Jesus to people that desperately need Him. It’s what God calls us to do as His Church.

Are there any kid-friendly service opportunities?

Yes. We have planned several opportunities that are good for families to serve at together. Lifeline Mobile Packing Events (4 & older), Harvest Compassion Center Kid’s Power Hour (5 & older) are designed with kids in mind. Other events that kids may attend and serve alongside their parent or guardian are Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Warehouse Packing Event (8 & up),  Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Neighborhood Cleanup (10 and up), Along Side Ministries Service Day (10 and up), Soul Kitchen’s Sandwich Making Event for the Homeless (10 and up).

Are there any groups that our small group can serve at together?

Yes, depending on the size of your group, almost all events can accomodate groups serving together. Make sure to register early so there will be spots for everyone.

May I participate if I don't go to Illuminate?

Absolutely! We would love for you to join us as we serve our city.  Gather your friends, neighbors, co-workers, small groups, and families and find a place to serve together.

Where can we find information about individual events?

Click on the event link from the calendar to find a description, age requirements, parking information, dress requirements, and other important details.

Do any events require background checks?

Yes, both the “Unplugged Foster Care” events and the “Lighthouse Phoenix” events require background checks. These take approximately 2 weeks to get back, so please register early to serve in these opportunities.
